If&Then Thursday

Hi everyone,

Its time for another If&Then Thursday 🙂

If&Then Thursdays is a book meme created by Alex@ Young at Heart Books. How do you participate? It’s easy! All you have to do is choose two books that are somewhat related in theme, writing style, genre, etc. Tell us how they are similar and why we would like them! All recommendations should be made in this format:

Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight – she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug.

When she first meets Prince Po, Graced with combat skills, Katsa has no hint of how her life is about to change.

She never expects to become Po’s friend.

She never expects to learn a new truth about her own Grace – or about a terrible secret that lies hidden far away.

The Creepy Hollow Series by Rachel Morgan

Here’s the synopsis from the first book, The Faerie Guardian:

Enter a hidden world of magic, mystery, danger and romance in this YA fantasy from Amazon bestselling author, Rachel Morgan…

Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day’s work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone—she’s about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamor follows her into the Fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the Fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot—and it’ll take all her training to get out alive.

WHY? Both are fantasies in a well-developed magical world. Both have strong, female heroines and a swoony love interest. I seriously cannot recommend the Creepy Hollow series enough! The first three books are from Violet’s point of view and the next three are with another character, Calla, so its really like two separate trilogies set in the same world. See my review of the first three books of The Creepy Hollow series HERE.

  1. I really want to read the Graceling series, but the Creepy Hollow series looks good too! Honestly I wouldn’t have picked up that series because…I don’t like covers where there is a model on the front. But I will definitely keep an eye out for this series! Great choices!!
