Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I needed some cuteness in my next read and I think this book is the perfect choice! I am already enjoying Stephanie Perkins’ writing, it is almost conversational as I read Anna’s internal dialogue. She’s pretty funny! Anyway, I’m excited to see Anna and St. Clair’s story continue 🙂

What did you recently finish reading?

Rebel Spring (Falling Kingdoms #2) by Morgan Rhodes 4★

Another good installment in the Falling Kingdoms series. While I won’t say I’m blown away by the series (yet, I hope!) it is extremely enjoyable and Rhode is a compelling writer. I immediately requested book#3 on Overdrive and I am eager to jump back into the world with Magnus, Cleo, Lucia and Jonas.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern 5★

Oh, I’m excited to write the review for this book. It was unlike any other book I’ve read! So whimsical, beautiful and magical. I now understand when people say they want to visit the Night Circus. It definitely took me a while to get into the feel of the book, and while I thought it was fantastic I had to stop the logical side of my brain from trying to figure out everything and just go along for the ride. I think I want to read it again……. 🙂

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Auctor Trilogy by T.R. Wolf

This is another book that I agreed to review. The author was kind enough to send me an ebook copy and I will be diving into this next. The reviews on Amazon seem mostly positive and I am intrigued by the premise. I am nervous about starting to accept these copies because while I absolutely want to support authors, I will still always write an honest review. I do hope I enjoy it though!

When seventeen-year-old Addie Auctor’s mother is murdered by her father, she must confront many secrets that her family has hidden from her. The worst of these secrets is that Addie’s father, Donovan Hawthorne, is still hunting Addie because of an ancient blood feud between her mother’s family, the Auctors, and her father’s family, the House of Hawthorne. In order to be protected from the House of Hawthorne, Addie and her brother, Augustus, are sent to Initiation at an exclusive University, the Wicked Cabal.
Initiation is nothing like Addie expects. She is immediately separated from Augustus and thrown in with four complete strangers – Fallon, Maddox, Liam, and Tempe. Addie must try to forge friendships with her fellow Initiates while they solve clues, battle mystical creatures, and explore increasingly dangerous places.
Readers of all ages will love this adventure filled with suspense, treachery, and romance.

  1. I’ve read the whole Anna and the French Kiss series and I actually really enjoyed the second book, Lola and the Boy Next Door WAYYY more than Anna (but then again, I didn’t like Anna at all so it could only go up from there haha!). The Night Circus is such an amazing book! I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed it because it is definitely one of my favourites. Can’t wait to read your review!

    1. Oh good to hear! I finished Anna last night (instead of sleeping early 😉 ) and I enjoyed it but the fact that St. Clair would NOT break up with his girlfriend for so long really bothered me. Sometimes I wanted to smack him. And I wanted Anna to stand up for herself *sigh* but it was still cute!

And The Night Circus was soo magical! I loved it! I feel like I need to gather my thoughts before I write a cohesive review 🙂

      1. Omg that irritated me so much about that book! Like come on, St. Clair! BREAK UP WITH ELLIE 😡but it ended pretty cutely so I’ll give it that much 😂Yeah that book is so unique, it’s hard to even explain what it’s about and actually do it any justice!

  2. I feel the same way as you about St. Clair not breaking up with his girlfriend for so long. I liked the book, but that drove me nuts. The Auctor Trilogy sounds like like it could be interesting, but I know what you mean. I always want to help authors, but I want to be honest about how I felt at the same time. Hope it’s a good read for you!

  3. It’s great to see you enjoyed The Night Circus as well! I loved LOVED the descriptions of that book and still wish I could visit the circus myself… And the Falling Kingdom series has been on my radar for quite some time; fingers crossed I will be getting to it some time this year. Enjoy your books this week and happy reading! Here’s my WWW.

  4. Good list! I haven’t read Anna and the French Kiss, even though I gave it to my goddaughter for Christmas, but I may read it. I did read Rebel Spring, which was a great sequel, and it gets better.

      1. I’ve always wanted to throw a night circus themed party. Every year I get a bit closer to actually planning one 🙂 but seriously, I want to smell the caramel and see everything black and white and ya. Two YA books that I’ve compared to night circus are The Crown’s Game and Caraval. Have you read either?

      2. That is a GREAT idea!!! Even if people haven’t read the book it would be an awesome theme 😊. I’ve read Caraval and I can definitely see why people say they are similar. I loved it though! I didn’t realize the Crown’s Game was similar though! I’ll have to check it out.
