Be the first to read the dazzling new novel from Nicola Yoon, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything
Natasha: I’m a girl who believes in science and facts. Not fate. Not destiny. Or dreams that will never come true. I’m definitely not the kind of girl who meets a cute boy on a crowded New York City street and falls in love with him. Not when my family is twelve hours away from being deported to Jamaica. Falling in love with him won’t be my story.
Daniel: I’ve always been the good son, the good student, living up to my parents’ high expectations. Never the poet. Or the dreamer. But when I see her, I forget about all that. Something about Natasha makes me think that fate has something much more extraordinary in store—for both of us.
The Universe: Every moment in our lives has brought us to this single moment. A million futures lie before us. Which one will come true?
The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon
I requested this book such a long time ago on Overdrive that I honestly forgot about it. I had other books planned to read but library books always take priority. After finishing Forbidden (which I’ll talk about below) I was ready for a fantasy or another non-contemporary book. However, I’m really enjoying Nicola Yoon’s writing so far and I have to say the story is quite charming! TBD on my final opinion, but I am definitely enjoying it so far.
What did you recently finish reading?
My Sister Rosa Justine Larbalestier 4★
This book was very well done! It was a creepy, psychological thriller but also a very well-developed story with interesting characters. I’ve never read another book on this subject matter before and I was very impressed with how realistic it all felt.
Dark Matter by Black Crouch 4★
This book was a fast-paced science fiction book and also my first experience with Blake Crouch. It was a lot of fun and I will definitely be reading more from him! I appreciated that the science behind it was explained well-enough that anyone could understand and appreciate what was going on. It was very interesting figuring out how all the pieces fit together!
Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma 4★
I knew I had to read this book ever since I saw a few reviews on it from fellow bloggers. I am all for reading books with sensitive or controversial subject matter because I am always eager to see how the author will portray it. In this case, the subject matter is extremely taboo: incest. Suzuma handled the subject matter delicately and I could definitely see how Maya and Lochan eventually formed a relationship. I unfortunately couldn’t connect with the characters as much as I would have liked and I wasn’t quite as heartbroken as some of the other readers seemed to be after finishing it. However, the writing was beautiful and it was still a very good read.
What do you think you’ll read next?
Seventeen-year-old Max has always felt like an outsider. When the agonizing apocalyptic visions begin, he decides suicide is his only escape. He soon finds himself in an institution under the guidance of a therapist who sees something exceptional in him. Just as he begins to leave the hallucinations behind, Max discovers the visions weren’t just in his head.
There are three others who have shared those same thoughts and they’ve been searching for Max. Like him, they are something more than human. Each of them possesses certain abilities, which they’re going to need when a covert military group begins hunting them down.
As the danger escalates, Max doesn’t know which side to trust. But in the end, his choice will decide the fate of both species.
The Enemy Within Scott Burn
So I really want to read The Night Circus, and I will soon. I’ve been receiving more requests from authors to review books so I am (cautiously) starting to accept them. I am very excited to be receiving requests but I don’t want to get overwhelmed! Anyway, I am going to start with The Enemy Within, which I’m actually very excited about. Apocalyptic visions and secret abilities? Definitely sounds like a book I would enjoy.
I’ve been ogling Dark Matter…enjoy your books, and thanks for sharing. Here’s MY WWW POST

& every time I see Dark Matter I have to ask myself what’s taking me so long?!?! lol. I actually have had Forbidden on my TBR for far too long as well, I just finished The Roanoke Girls which deals with the same subject matter & it was DARRK as hell. Currently I’m finishing up You’re Welcome, Universe & starting Hunted by Meagan Spooner. Happy reading Alex <3!

Dark Matter was such a quick read! You don’t have any excuses 🙂 Forbidden was good, but UGH, emotional. I’m definitely looking up The Roanoke Girls, I love my dark books haha.

I’ll be looking forward to your final thoughts on The Sun is Also a Star, I’m glad you’re enjoying it so far! I’ve been meaning to read it but somehow never picked it up. And I’ve heard so much about Forbidden, it’s raised quite the controversial topic. Sorry to hear you didn’t connect with the characters that much, though I’m glad you still enjoyed it. ❤

I just finished it and oh my goodness, I LOVED IT! I’m so surprised that I loved it this much but I just thought it was perfect 💕 I really did enjoy Forbidden (and I love dark subject matter) but I just expecting to be bawling at the end and I wasn’t ☹️ it was definitely tragic though.

I’ve read both The Sun Is Also a Star and Dark Matter and really enjoyed both. I was actually surprised by how much I liked Dark Matter since I tend to have a hard time connecting with middle-aged male characters, haha. All of the rest of these are on my TBR. I just got The Enemy Within from the author a couple of days ago too and it looks great. Hopefully we both enjoy it 🙂

I just finished The Sun Is Also a Star and I LOVED it. So so much. ❤️ Dark Matter was definitely good, but it was more of a fast-paced fun read and it’s not one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy The Enemy Within as well! I’m starting it tonight 😊
