What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading:

The Catalyst by Helena Coggan

This is another ARC I picked up on NetGalley. I wasn’t really sure what it was about but the synopsis made it seem like an interesting sci-fi/fantasy. Now that I’ve read the first chapter it seems to be an angel invasion body-snatcher story. Sounds interesting to me! I also wanted to note that Helena Coggan puts us all to shame because she is 15. Yes, you read that right. She wrote the first draft of this book when she was 13 and is now a published author at 15. That’s amazing!

More Than This by Patrick Ness

I’ve been wanting to read Patrick Ness and this happened to be the first ebook I received at the library. I’m amazed at how easy it is to use Overdrive. The library notified me it was available and I just downloaded it to my kindle. So. Easy. Anyway, I can already tell I enjoy Ness’s writing. This book starts with a boy who violently drowns in the ocean, only to wake up in a strange, empty place. I’m excited to see where this story goes.

Recently Finished:

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

I finished this book last week and it was a thoughtful, poignant read. Its beautifully written and while different from my normal reads I thoroughly enjoyed it.

P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

I’ve already posted my review for this book here, but I loved this book! I read it in one day because I just couldn’t put it down. It was a perfect, adorable romance and I would highly recommend this book.

Weregirl by C.D. Bell

I received an ARC of Weregirl via NetGalley. I enjoyed this story! Nessa is a cross country runner and I was a huge fan of that having also been a cross country runner in high school. While it had a lot of elements from a classic werewolf story, Bell incorporates other elements and story lines into this book which makes it an interesting read.

Prodigy (Legend #2) by Marie Lu

This book was excellent and I think I enjoyed it even more than the first. It focuses heavily on June and Day’s character development, and I love how Lu explored their complicated relationship. My review on this book will be up tomorrow.

Champion (Legend #3) by Marie Lu

I just finished Champion last night, and wow! I haven’t started writing a review yet because I feel like I need a few days to digest that ending. Overall, this was a great series and I am looking forward to diving into Lu’s other series, The Young Elites.

What I’ll read next:

All The Ugly and Wonderful Things by Bryn Greenwood

This book finally arrived to my apartment the other day! I bought a 3-month Book of the Month subscription so it came with this book, a wine glass cozy, a cute tote bag and a bookmark. I’m excited to see what all the hype is surrounding this book.

A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir

I wasn’t going to pre-order this book because I’ve been spending way too much money on books lately but I couldn’t help it. Its arriving tonight! September will definitely be a good month for anticipated releases.

What are you reading right now? What’s next on your TBR?

  1. I’m glad to hear that you liked the rest of the Legend series. I’ve heard other people say they didn’t like the second & third books very much and I think that’s part of the reason why I’m so hesitant to start reading the series.
I can’t wait to see what you think of All the Ugly and Wonderful Things. It sounds like a great book. I’m thinking of signing up for Book of the Month myself, especially since I’ve seen some pretty good coupon codes for it 😛

  2. All The Ugly And Wonderful Things is all over the place lately. I think I added that to my TBR. I’ll look out for your review. I’ve also wanted to read a Ness book. They sound amazing from what I’ve heard. Can’t wait to see what you think. 🙂

    1. I’m going to start All The Ugly and Wonderful Things soon. I’m so curious about it because people keep saying that you would think it has Lolita vibes but it doesn’t really and everyone seems to have such a strong emotional reaction to it.
I’m so far enjoying Ness’s writing! I’m not that far into it yet. I also have A Monster Calls on my kindle. The movie for that is coming out in October and the preview looks great.

      1. I really want to read A Monster Calls. That sounds amazing and I’ve read the best reviews for it. I’m glad you’re liking Ness. I didn’t even know there was a movie coming out. I must be living under a rock. 🙈 Ha! I’m curious to see what you think of All The Ugly and Wonderful Things. I think I’ll wait for your review and go from there. We usually have similar opinions on the same books. 🙂

  3. The Catalyst sounds so good, I’m going to have to check that out! I’m so excited for A Torch Against the Night but it isn’t released in the UK until 8th September! You’re so lucky you get it so soon!

      1. Ooh I guess it’s a book people either love or hate 🙂 can you still request it on NetGalley? Ahh I’m so jealous! Everyone will have finished it and I’ll be trying to dodge spoilers haha. Oh that’s a tough decision sometimes you just can’t wait xD

  4. I’m a huge fan of Overdrive! If your library has 3M or Hoopla, I think those are even easier. Glad it’s working for you. I’m reading a book and listening to one through the service now. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

  5. I’ve never read any of Marie Lu’s novels, that’s something I need to correct. I have An Ember in the Ashes, I’m curious to check it out, especially with the sequel being released 🙂
