Goodreads Book Tag

I first wanted to say thank you to Donna @ Chocolatenwaffles’ Blog for tagging me in the Goodreads Book Tag 🙂 I’ve apparently had Goodreads since 2011, but I certainly have not been active with it that entire time. Honestly, I’ve only really started to use it the past few months as a way to keep track of my books. I love it now! I don’t know how I would ever keep track of all my to-read books without my lovely list on Goodreads.

 

What is the last book you marked as read?

 

Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo. This is the second book in the Grisha trilogy. I really enjoyed this one! You can read my full review here.

What are you currently reading?

Prodigy (Legend #2) by Marie Lu and Weregirl by C.D. Bell. I’m enjoying Prodigy so far, it picks up right were Legend ended. I’ve been reading Weregirl for a while now..and I am enjoying it! Its just taking me a while to get through for some reason.

What was the last book you marked as to read?

The Female of the Species by Mindy McGinnis.

I came across this book via the young adult buzz book list from NetGalley. The synopsis just sounds so bizarre and intriguing that I have to read it.

Do you use the star rating system?

Yes, I do but I constantly feel conflicted about it. I want a way to sort my books into what I like and dislike, however I have a few issues with the star rating system. For me, I try to give out 5 stars very sparingly and only give them to the books I find really special. Because of this, I don’t consider a 3 star rating a low rating even though I feel as if people are turned away from 3 star ratings (myself included). There is also always so much more to a book than a one number rating. Maybe I rated a book 3 stars because I couldn’t connect with the main character, but the plot and writing were still very good. My 3 star could be another person’s 5 star! I also find it difficult to be consistent with my rating. For example, I may be feeling particularly critical one day and rate a book lower than I normally would. I enjoy rating my books, but I am always on the lookout for a better way to express my ratings!

What book do you plan on reading next?

 

I might finish up with the Legend trilogy, so Champion would be next. However, I have All the Ugly and Wonderful Things being delivered soon so I might start on that instead. Whatever I’m in the mood for!

Are you doing the 2016 reading challenge?

Yes. I had absolutely no idea how many books I read per year so I set the goal as 50. So far I’ve read 55!

What book do you plan on buying next?

 

 

Probably P.S. I Like You by Kasie West. I got my library card yesterday (hooray!) and put a bunch of books on hold, but this one is still too new to be in the library so I will just order it for myself 🙂
